Delivery & Returns
At J. Gow Rum, we take care to pack every bottle securely before it begins its journey from our little corner of Orkney. Below you’ll find everything you need to know about delivery, shipping costs and returns.
UK Delivery
Postage and packaging: £5.00 per order.
We currently use the following delivery services:
- Orders of one or two bottles: Royal Mail Tracked 24.
- Larger orders: UPS or Parcelforce.
Orders are usually dispatched within one working day of receipt, excluding weekends and public holidays. Due to our remote location in Orkney, please allow 3–5 working days for delivery.
Delivery times are estimates and may occasionally be affected by weather, courier delays or other circumstances outside our control.
We’ll take care to package your order securely, but please check your parcel when it arrives and contact us if anything is damaged or missing.
International Delivery
We may be able to ship orders to selected international destinations. Please contact us before placing an international order so we can confirm availability, shipping costs and estimated delivery times.
International postage can be expensive due to the weight of glass bottles, and additional customs duties, taxes or import charges may apply depending on the destination. We will explain any known shipping costs and relevant import arrangements before you confirm your order.
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to ship orders to the USA or Canada due to import regulations.
International deliveries are subject to local laws, import restrictions and the availability of a suitable shipping service. Customers are responsible for ensuring that the purchase and importation of alcohol are permitted in their destination country.
Age-Restricted Deliveries
J. Gow Rum products are sold only to customers aged 18 or over, or the applicable legal drinking age where higher. You may be asked to provide proof of age when ordering or receiving your delivery.
Please ensure someone legally eligible to receive the order is available at the delivery address. Couriers may require age verification and may refuse delivery if the recipient cannot demonstrate that they meet the applicable age requirements.
Damaged, Missing or Incorrect Orders
We take care when packing your order, but occasionally things can go wrong on the journey.
If your order arrives damaged, is missing an item or contains something different from what you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible at info@vsdistillersltd.com. Include your order number and, where possible, photographs of any damage or incorrect items.
We’ll investigate the issue and work with you to arrange an appropriate replacement, refund or other remedy.
Please report damage promptly so we can investigate with the delivery company. This does not affect your statutory rights.
Returns and Cancellations
If you change your mind about an online purchase, you will generally have the right to cancel within 14 days of receiving your goods, subject to applicable legal exceptions. You will normally then have a further 14 days to return the goods after notifying us of your cancellation.
To cancel an order or arrange a return, contact us at info@vsdistillersltd.com with your order number and details of your request.
Where you are returning an order because you have changed your mind, you may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods, provided this has been made clear before purchase. Returned items should be handled with reasonable care.
Where the law requires it, refunds will include the cost of standard outbound delivery and will be made using the original payment method. We may withhold a refund until we have received the returned goods or evidence that they have been sent back, whichever happens first, where the law permits.
Different arrangements may apply to faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods. Nothing in this policy limits your statutory consumer rights.
